In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual predictions, the game developer has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Uncovered

According to the official release, "A mysterious meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations echo through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.

The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana together with several items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Content

This release also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
